At 8 weeks, I noticed that my daughter was only looking to one side/favoring one side due to low tone (hypotonia). Everyone kept telling me it was normal because she was a newborn and my pediatrician even told me not to worry at her 8 week check up.
I always listened to my pediatrician because I thought "she is an expert and sees so many children...she would know if I needed to put her in physical therapy." So I did nothing for another week until I noticed that her head behind her ear was starting to flatten - that's when I knew I had to be proactive and be my own advocate.
I was referred to Kerri by a friend and would recommend her to anyone! She has a wonderful bedside manner and is not only extremely knowledgeable but also takes the time to show you the exercises so you can do them at home with your child. Kerri confirmed that my daughter did have torticollis but because we caught it so early, it only took two weeks of implementing the daily exercises Kerri showed me before her muscles were strengthened and she had a full range of motion.
Kerri also told me that babies with torticollis can also have trouble meeting other milestones on time so I knew I had to keep an eye on things over the next several months. My daughter learned to sit up without support at a normal age but by 8 months she could not go from laying down to sitting. Again, my pediatrician said it was fine but I could tell she was getting frustrated that she could not move around so I called Kerri again. She gave me another set of 3 exercises and within a couple of weeks, my daughter was going from laying to sitting no problem and was so much happier and content. One piece of advice Kerri told me at our first session that always stuck with me was "Babies learn so much by exploring and if they can't move they can't learn or play."
I worked with Kerri on and off until my daughter started walking at 14 months. I can honestly say that if I had not called Kerri when my daughter was a little over 8 weeks, she would not have been walking until much later as every milestone would have continued to be delayed. While I love my pediatrician and still respect her opinion, I also know that you know your baby best and if you think something seems off developmentally from a physical standpoint, follow your gut and reach out to Kerri. The worst that could happen is she can tell you your baby is fine and right on track!

We are so thrilled with the progress our son has made with Kerri and can't recommend her highly enough!
When we met Kerri, our 18 month old son was not yet walking. We had been working with another PT twice a week for a month, but with very minimal progress and unclear goals. Unhappy with the other PT's approach, we found Kerri and our son began walking confidently within a matter of weeks! Kerri assessed our son's difficulties quickly and expertly, and began working towards her goals during the very first session. She provided us with detailed feedback after each session and offered exercises we could do with our son to support her work.
Kerri is hard-working, thoughtful in her approach and recommendations, extremely knowledgable and very accessible, not to mention a lovely person overall! She is a true professional and is clearly very skilled at what she does. It was evident from the first time we met that Kerri's aim is to discharge children from her care as quickly as possible, meaning that she works towards her goals diligently, efficiently, and playfully each week, not wasting any time.
As a clinical psychologist working with young children, I come into contact with many physical therapists. I can say without a doubt that Kerri stands head and shoulders above the rest in terms of her deep understanding of young children's gross motor development, her work ethic, and her professionalism.
As a parent and a professional in the field of child development, I can honestly say that you will be hard pressed to find a physical therapist that is more skilled than Kerri. We are so grateful to have met Kerri and will forever be thankful to her for all of her hard work and expertise!
